Badminton can be played by yourself (singles), with two girls or two guys (doubles), or with one girl and one guy (mixed doubles). Although all three types of games are similar in that they all involve general badminton skills, all require different strategies and shot selection in order to produce the best results. Being familiar with singles, doubles, and mixed doubles strategies will help your students to understand all aspects of the game. Being good at singles does not mean that you will be good at doubles or mixed doubles and vice versa. The reality is that most good players specialize in one of the three games and are not nearly as good in the other two. You want to give your students a good understanding of all three types of games. The key thing to remember when looking at all of the strategies for singles, doubles, and mixed doubles is that every individual has their strengths and weaknesses and that should always factor in to any strategy you choose. |
